Gretechen Rubin today on Facebook shared the following quote: “My mind works in idleness. To do nothing is often my most profitable way.” Virginia Woolf, Diaries-February 16, 1930
I am often struck by hard challenging it can be to give myself permission to stop doing/working. I deeply believe in the benefits of being idle for my mind body and spirit. I also almost always get my best ideas when I disengage from working and thinking and do something lighthearted and fun. So, knowing these things, what gives?
I’m thinking this challenge is about us being Autonomous and Respectful (in SMART). In order to break away for shoulds (even those we want to do), we have to be Autonomous and OWN our full set of needs (not just those we get rewarded for) and then Respect ourselves by giving ourselves permission to disengage.
How do you or what do you tell yourself to disengage..?
